Students minoring in Asian Studies complete either an ASIA 100 Intro to Asian Studies or a HIST 103 East Asian Civilization core course, as well as 15-18 credits of electives. An Asian Studies minor is an excellent option for students majoring in History, Modern Languages and Linguistics, Political Science, or Sociology, but is also a great fit for many other disciplines at UMBC.
Two semesters of Asian language can count as electives for the minor. Your advisor can help you to find courses that will be the best fit for your interests!
Please note: UMBC does not print minors on diplomas, but your transcript (the official record of your coursework) will have a notation of any minors, certificates, or concentrations in which you are formally enrolled.
