Asian Studies Early February News and Updates

Scholarship! Korean Research Presentations! URCAD is Coming!

It's been a chilly start to the semester so far, but there are so many things happening on campus, you're sure to stay warm! In Kyoto, February is when the gardens of plum trees at Kitano Tenmangu spring back to life after the winter, filling the air with their sweet scent and their variety of soft pink and white blossoms. Keep an eye out here in Maryland for spring and greenery to return soon, too - winter is almost over!

  • A graduate student in the geography and environmental systems department is sponsoring a survey that looks to understand how students comprehend waste, climate change and environmental justice. It will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and is for UMBC graduate and undergraduate students. The goal of the project is to see if students make connections between environmental justice, waste and climate change at universities. By understanding if those connections are made we hope to look at how to utilize power to make changes surrounding waste and environmental justice at UMBC. The survey link is available here

Please contact Mackenzie Bodman (mbodman1@umbc.edu) for more information. The deadline to respond is February 13
