Welcome Week, 10th Anniversary Year, and More!

Summer is winding down, and in a few weeks, campus will once again be buzzing with activity as classes begin and students return. We look forward to seeing you!

Welcome Week Reception

Save the date for our Welcome Week Reception, Thursday, September 2, from 12:30-1:30pm. Stop by for snacks, music, or just to say hello! If you're new, you'll have a chance to learn more about the Asian Studies program. If you're a returning student, we look forward to catching up with you! Keep an eye out for the myUMBC event notice soon!

Late Course Addition: ANTH/ASIA 214: Focused Cultural Study - South Asia
Still looking for a class for this fall? We're excited to offer ANTH/ASIA 214, which will use ethnographic accounts from throughout South Asia to develop an anthropological understanding of historic and contemporary South Asian cultures. It is a hybrid course meeting in the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays - more information is available in the online course catalog.

(Still need advising? Don't panic! Email us - asianstudies@umbc.edu - and we'll be happy to help!)

10th Anniversary Celebration
Asian Studies is celebrating our 10th anniversary this year! We have a lot of cool projects in the works - events, lectures, even a contest or two - which we're excited to share with you in the coming months. Be sure to follow us on here on myUMBC, and on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for all the details about how you can be involved and celebrate with us!

Website Renovations
We appreciate your patience as we update our department website this month. Posted information may change or move to a new location during this process; if you have any questions, please let us know.
